GENERAL C.A.R. SYSTEM HANDGUN COURSE INFORMATION:

The C.A.R. System is ONLY method of utilizing a handgun for CQB purposes that I teach, endorse, or actually use.

I offer both IPDS and C.A.R. System courses and certification, and both are very similar in nature as to the concepts taught.  Both highlight Paul Castle's Active-Defense concepts previously taught only to Law Enforcement and Military personnel.  The major difference is that the IPDS classes, for civilians, do not focus on some of the team tactics utilizing assault weapons that are taught during C.A.R. training to L.E. & Military personnel.   

IPDSystems hundgun classes are offered as either one-day (Basic) or two-day (Advanced) blocks.  Those who have attended the one-day IPDS Basic Handgun Course may elect to attend a one-day Advanced Class at a later date, as scheduling allows. Seperate Certificates of Training are provided for each.

Great News: Some of the classroom portion of IPDSystems classes will soon be offered ONLINE through the IPDSystems national website!  This will include full online support from a certified instructor., as well as dowloadable training material This will allow you to receive some of the training on YOUR pace and schedule before attending a live-fire range session. For both CAR and IPDS,  the instruction is modular in nature and can be tailored to your individual scheduling and budgetary needs.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING COURSES OFFERED:

  • IPDSystems Pepper Spray Operator

Pepper Spray is now legal for use by civilians IN NY State in accordance with
NY Penal Law Section 265.20 (click red link to read law)
This 4-hour block covers utiliizing spray in a lawful use-of-force encounter by employing some of the same Active Defense concepts that are taught during the handgun courses. This is due to the C.A.R. System being just that...a system who's weapon deployment and retention principles work across a broad spectrum of self-defensive tools and weapons.  Additional topics covered include legal & use-of-force issues, self first-aid and decontamination, types of pepper spray units, and additional follow-up techniques that will make you Harder to Hurt. Eye protection required, and provided if needed.  You do not get sprayed with live pepper spray during this course, but inert training units (pressurized water) are utilized.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED BY STUDENT FOR HANDGUN COURSES:

 

 

 

  • HANDGUN  (COPY OF PISTOL PERMIT REQUIRED FOR NYS CLASSES IF CIVILIAN)
  • AT LEAST 3 MAGAZINES (5 FOR 1911 USERS) & MORE MAGS ARE PREFERABLE
  • HIGH QUALITY STONG-SIDE HOLSTER
  • MAGAZINE POUCHES
  • HEAVY-DUTY BELT IF NOT UTILIZING DUTY BELT
  • QUALITY HEARING AND EYE PROTECTION
  • AMMO: AT LEAST 400 ROUNDS (HANDGUN) PER DAY...MORE IS PREFERABLE ( I USUALLY HAVE ON SITE A SMALL QUANTITY OF 9mm, .40 AND .45 AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT MY ACTUAL COST. )
  • CLIMATE-SPECIFIC CLOTHING - WE TRAIN IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER
  • HYDRATION DEVICE / WATER BOTTLES
  • LUNCH / SNACKS -  MEAL BREAKS ARE KEPT SHORT DUE TO RANGE LOCATIONS & TRAINING TEMPO

  • COURSE MANUAL & CD WITH ADDITIONAL TRAINING RESOURCES TO KEEP BY STUDENT
  • TRAUMA & FIRST-AID EQUIPMENT TO BE ON STANDBY
  • WEAPONS CLEANING EQUIPMENT
  • CERTIFICATE OF TRAINING UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION

DEMONSTRATIONS:

I am more than willing to travel to your range / shooting location to give you a live-fire demonstration of Center Axis Relock.  I welcome the opportunity, as once this is seen in person, the System sells itself.
